What’s Happening Down on the Farm

Hi Everyone,

Apparently there have been a few traffic problems on our lane down to the market.  A couple of customers have come in pleading, “Steve, you’ve got to do something!”  I told them I wasn’t sure what I could do. One guy said,”Widen the driveway!”  I said that we would have to sell about 14 tons of zucchini to pay for that.  So that was two weeks ago. I did notice tire tracks in the ditch by the “Civil War Fence”.  That’s what Vicky calls it usually with a prefix that is unprintable.  She hates that fence.  Anyway….there was evidence of drivers pulling off the drive to let someone by.  This past week a customer said that there was a traffic jam on the lane, a real mess and it looked like there may have been a carjacking!  I said “WHAT”!!!!  I ran up to find a customer standing by her car crying and a stranger pulling her car safely off the lane so other cars could get by.  She was freaked out because she didn’t know where to go or what to do, so he was just trying to help.  I had know idea that our quiet little farm lane had turned into the Beltway!  Something had to be done.  We have set up two pull off areas that will actually have signage by tomorrow afternoon.  I hope this will help avoid a 12 car pile up.
On the market front this weekend, I don’t think we have ever had so much stuff in the market at one time ever.  All sorts of winter squash, crates of tomatoes (yes they’re back), cider, four types of apples and the greens, oh the greens from Flying Plow Farm are beautiful.  If there ever was a time to come to the market, this is it!
