What’s Going on Down on the Farm

Howdy Friends and Neighbors,

Just before typing this email, I tried one of our delicata squashes to see if they are ripe and ready to go.  I took the squash, cut it in half lengthwise, spooned out the seeds, cut it crosswise into thin strips, threw all the strips into a bowl with olive oil, salt and pepper, shook them around a bit and put a single layer of the squash strips on a cookie sheet.  I baked them in a 350 oven for 20 minutes.  They came out unbelievably tender and delicious.  The best part of it all was that they tasted just like french fries!  Is it wrong to want to put ketchup on squash?
So we find ourselves going into Labor Day Weekend!  Are you kidding me?  The unofficial end of summer.  Excuse me, I need a moment…… Ok, thank you.  We have all your cook-out needs.  We have stocked up on steaks, burgers and dogs. Of course sweet corn and tomatoes. The apple varieties this week are Honey Crisp and Gala.  It looks like this could be the last week for cantaloupes (I know I’ve said that before)  We are happy to welcome back Hydes Hill Dried Herbs and Teas to our menu.  Also you may want to check out the beautiful Fall offerings from Putnam Hill Nursery.  There’s a lot on the menu so cruise around a bit and take a look.
Thank you so much for supporting our online business and our farm market as well.  Without all of you, Vicky and I realize that I’d be spending most of my days debating with myself whether to put ketchup on squash or not.

Ordering begins at 9a Tuesday morning through Wednesday evening at 10p.  Remember you can opt for Saturday delivery or pick up your order at the farm Saturday or Sunday 10-2
Have a great week!
