Farm Update

Hi Everyone,
,
We have a couple of young people helping on the farm this year.  A couple of days ago I was in the kitchen preparing a salad while a young farmhand was washing eggs. (I give them all the fun jobs!) With a box grater, a knife and a cutting board, I began.  The barely teenager looked over at me, as I was slicing carrots with the knife and said,”You know Mr. Steve, you can use the side of the box grater to slice your carrots.  It’s a lot easier.”  I looked at the side and thought to myself, “You’ve got to be kidding me!  I never realized that.  After all these years of using a box grater’s front side only, how did I miss this?”  Of course I couldn’t admit that the person in my kitchen, who had lived a tenth of the time that I had, new something that I didn’t.  Especially something so simple as the wholes on the side of a box grater!  So I said,”Yeah, I know.  I was just practicing my chef skills.”  Isn’t it a wonderful way to start the day when a teenager makes you feel like a complete dope.
